Christiane Löhr
legare e separare - new works - November 02 until December 07, 2024

Opening: Saturday 2 November, 4 - 7 pm

Following the extensive exhibition at the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck in Remagen in 2023, we are looking forward to our sixth solo exhibition of drawings and sculptures by Christiane Löhr in Cologne.

With the Italian exhibition title ‘legare e separare’, which means ‘to connect and separate’, Christiane Löhr describes the character of the lines with which she explores the sheet space, ‘making it vibrate’. Lines and empty space are equally important as notes and pauses in music.

Löhr uses pencil, oil pen and ink for her works on paper. She traces the way in which the different materials touch the sheet. Fine pencil lines are etched into the sheet, solid oil pencil lines are massaged into the base of the sheet and ink lines are created in which pigments are deposited as if in a riverbed.

All the works on paper on display date from this year. They were drawn in the Italian studio where Löhr works alongside her Cologne studio. Architectures made from plant parts and seeds, which are characteristic of Löhr's sculptural work, complete the exhibition.

Christiane Löhr can look back on a long list of national and international exhibitions. The next institutional exhibitions are in November 2024 at the Museo d'Arte Provincia di Nuoro in Sardinia (IT) and in March 2025 at the Lothar Fischer Museum in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz (DE).
